Penza, 15 January 2013. PenzaNews. The crime rate in the Penza region became one of the lowest not only in the Volga Federal District, but also in Russia in 2012. Such a conclusion was made by the prosecutor’s office of the region after summing up the results of work of the law enforcement agencies for the past year.

According to the Senior Assistant Attorney of the region Yuliya Makarova, the number of crimes committed by juveniles reduced in the region, as well as those occurred in public places.

“However, there are some problems which will be under close supervision in the coming year. Thus, in 2012, the number of cases of domestic violence and murders multiplied. Also increased the number of crimes committed in a state of intoxication, as well as by people who has been convicted before, which shows the drawbacks of the work of law enforcement bodies monitoring this category of people,” the agency interlocutor explained in an interview with news agency “PenzaNews.”

She also noted that the practice of crime covering from registration in the work of law enforcement bodies has not been stopped yet.

“The prosecutor’s office of the Penza region is aware of these and other negative issues. Working on them will be the primary task in 2013,” Yuliya Makarova underlined.
