Rowdy faces up to 10 years in prison for stabbing police officer in Zarechny

Zarechny, 25 January 2013. PenzaNews. A 38-year-old resident of Zarechny, the Penza region faces up to 10 years of imprisonment for stabbing a police officer on Thursday evening, January 24.
As the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region told news agency “PenzaNews,” the incident occurred at 19.45 in one of the city shops, where the district police officer arrived for inspection.
“The drunken man entered the shop and, having noticed the police officer, began to insult him. When the police officer asked to stop swearing, the rowdy pulled out a knife and attacked the police officer, causing him a hand injury. Despite this, the district police officer detained the attacker,” the press service explained, adding that later the police officer received all necessary assistance in a hospital.
The ministry noted that the rowdy was taken to the police department for further investigation.
“It was found that criminal charges had been previously brought against the man twice for intentional infliction of health damage. Further criminal procedures will be taken on this fact in the nearest future,” concluded the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region.
