Penza, 31 January 2013. PenzaNews. 231,1 thousand rubles, 60,5 liters of alcoholic drinks, 1,2 thousand piercing and cutting instruments, and 354 mobile phones were withdrawn by the officers of the federal service for punishment execution in the Penza region when attempted to be brought in correctional institutions in 2012.

“Over 2,390 grams of drugs were confiscated with the help of the regional office of the Federal Drug Control Service. At an attempt to hand in prohibited items,131 people were detained, 110 of whom were fined,” the head of the federal service for punishment execution in the Penza region Alexander Gorshkov pointed out during an expanded board meeting on the results of operational and production activity in 2012.

He said that in 2012 in total, 508 crimes were prevented, including 16 escapes and 490 crimes against life and health.

“We revealed five cases of unofficial connection between the staff of institutions and the prisoners,” the press service of the ministry quoted Alexander Gorshkov.

As of early 2013, 6,264 people are held in prisons and detention centers of the Penza region.

5,094 people, including 70 minors are registered in penal inspection.

In total, 10,229 people were registered in penal inspection, including 1,793 people who were sentenced to compulsory work, and 1,183 — to correctional work.
