Penza, 1 February 2013. PenzaNews. 93 violations of housing and utility services legislation were found by the prosecutor’s office during the audit conducted in the Penza region in January 2013. As the Senior Assistant Attorney of the region Yuliya Makarova told news agency “PenzaNews,” a significant number of violations were registered in the calculation of the public utility service charges.

“For example, in January 2013, we found that the charges for electricity of one of the apartment building in Lenin St included the amount of energy consumed by a detached pavilion “Health Key.” So, the residents of that building had to pay for electricity they did not actually use,” the agency interlocutor said, adding that a case was filed on this fact.

According to Yuliya Makarova, they also revealed a case a larceny from the municipal unitary enterprise “Progress” for the total amount of 81,5 thousand rubles.

She stressed that the work of prosecutors on legislation supervision in the housing sector is systemic and will continue.

In 2012, about 4,5 thousand violations of law committed in the sphere of housing and communal services were detected and prevented in the Penza region.

Criminal proceedings were taken against over 600 people.

11 criminal cases were filed based on the materials of prosecutorial audits in legislation on housing and utility services.
