“The criminal case is being considered by the judge of the regional court alone. The court is to consider 19 volumes of the case, question all witnesses, victims and defendant,” the press secretary of Penza regional court Natalia Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She noted that according to the criminal psychiatric examination, the defendant is found sane.

“According to the investigation, the crimes were committed from 17 September 2009 to 25 January 2012. It is established that the defendant formed a negative attitude towards people abusing alcohol, leading nomadic life. He forejudged a guilty intent to murder people of the specified category. The defendant developed a plan, prepared murder weapon, studied the experience of people convicted of serial killings and various ways of hiding the crime,” the agency interlocutor explained.

According to Natalia Bychenkova, the man lured his victims to a deserted place, where he killed them with a knife or a hammer, then dismembered the bodies.

“All nine murders were described by the defendant in his personal diary, which was confiscated during the search. The man also mentioned having eaten the heart of one of the victims. In addition, he is suspected of stealing money and goods from the store for a total amount of 9,908 rubles,” Natalia Bychenkova said.

The criminal case against the maniac was filed according to Part 2, Art. 105 of the Criminal Code “Murder,” Part 1, Art. 244 “Violation of dead bodies and burial places,” and Part 2, Art. 158 of the Criminal Code “Theft.”
