Police traffic officer smashed windshield when arresting drunk driver near Penza

Penza, 8 February 2013. PenzaNews. Several verifications, including official, were appointed after the incident in village Nazvanovka, Kolyshleysky area, the Penza region, when a drunk driver dragged a traffic police officer for almost 0,5 km hanging on the hood of the car before the latter was able to smash the windshield.

As the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region commented to news agency “PenzaNews,” the incident happened around 17.00 on Thursday, February 7.

“Traffic police officers registered a car moving at 128 km / h on the way “Penza — Serdobsk,” while the limit at that section of the road was only 60 km / h. Police traffic officers began to pursue the offender, because he did not respond to the legitimate demands of the police. The car was stopped only after blocking the roadway in village Nazvanovka. When a traffic police officer approached the car, the driver began reversing, caught the officer by his uniform and dragged him for about 400 meters,” the department explained.

The press service of the Ministry added that the traffic police officer had to repeatedly strike his fist against the front window, having no other way to stop the vehicle.

“When the driver was showered with broken glass, he stopped the car and tried to escape, but was arrested by the police. The young man turned out to be a resident of village Treskino, born 1987. According to medical examination, his degree of intoxication was 0.7 mg / L,” the press-service pointed out.

The Ministry specified that the detainee may be sentenced to 5 years in prison.
