Sentence against student convicted of car accident entered into force in Penza

Penza, 1 March 2013. PenzaNews. Sentence against a college student, who hit a woman to death at Lenta shopping center in Penza, entered into force.
“The young man was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment in a penal colony with deprivation of the right to drive for a period of 3 years. He also must pay moral damage compensation in the amount of 300 thousand rubles to the son of the victim,” commented the press secretary of Penza Regional Court Natalia Bychenkova.
She reminded that the accident occurred in the afternoon October 6, 2012.
“The man driving VAZ-21083 car was moving along Stroiteley Avenue. He went to the regulated pedestrian crossing at red light when the woman was crossing the street. As a result, she received fatal injuries,” the agency interlocutor explained.
Natalia Bychenkova added that the sentence was delivered on 17 December 2012, but the young man appealed it, however, the judicial board on criminal cases of Penza Regional Court dismissed the appeal.
