Sentence pronounced for mass infection of Luninsky area residents with hepatitis A

Penza, 3 April 2013. PenzaNews. Director General of LLC “Komkhoz” Sergey Karasev was found guilty of violating sanitary-epidemiological rules, which resulted in mass disease caused by hepatitis A virus in village Mantorovo, Luninsky district, the Penza region.

The Senior Assistant of the Head of Investigative Department of Investigative Committee in Penza, Media relations division, Lyudmila Fomina clarified that the accused failed to keep the territory of the wells in a proper condition — no drainage was provided for surface water, the wells were open to public, and the sanitary protection zone of high security was used by the local population as a drive-through to the house and storage space for debris.
“Moreover, during the period from January 2010 to August 2012, knowing that LLC “Komkhoz” did not have the appropriate compulsory license, the accused exploited the wells to organize business on extraction of underground fresh water for drinking and industrial needs of individual and legal entities of village Mantorovo. As a result, he received a large amount of profit — over 5,600 thousand rubles,” the agency interlocutor added.
“The accused was sentenced to 280 hours of compulsory work,” the representative of Investigating Committee concluded.
