Penza resident transferred 287 thousand rubles to telephone fraudsters

Penza, 24 April 2013. PenzaNews. A resident of Penza transferred 287 thousand rubles to telephone fraudsters who promised her over 1 million rubles as a compensation for previously purchased medical drugs.

“According to the victim, she received a phone call from an unknown woman who presented herself as an accountant from Moscow company “Pharm-Store” and explained that the victim was entitled to a compensation in the amount of 1,150 thousand rubles for the medical drugs she bought in 2011. The caller also clarified that to get the money the woman has to pay taxes and insurance,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry added that, following the instructions of the unknown caller, the woman transferred 207 thousand rubles to a specified bank account, and then at the request of the alleged tax inspector of the same company she remitted 80 thousand rubles more, without getting the promised amount of money.

“The fact is investigated. It is already established that the cell phone numbers used by the fraudsters are registered in Moscow,” the press service commented.
