Sergey Buylov gives details of tragic accident near Penza

The head of the regional department of traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Buylov gave details of the tragic accident involving three vehicles — Volkswagen minibus, Freightliner truck, and Chevrolet Lacetti, which occurred on the road Penza — Tambov near village Konstantinovka on Tuesday morning, May 14, in the result of which ten people were killed.

“The visibility is good on that section of the road — at least 3 km in both directions with clear markings, no patching, good weather conditions,” he pointed out.
“According to preliminary data, Volkswagen was on the way from Sochi to pick up the workers, who were returning home to Chuvashia. Presumably, the driver fell asleep — it is more likely that he did not keep work and rest schedule. At around 7.45 he drove onto the oncoming traffic lane and made a front collision with a truck from Mordovia,” Sergey Buylov said.
He added that Freightliner truck was followed by Chevrolet Lacetti, which had a dashboard camera.
“We hope it will help to show the full picture of the accident,” the regional department of traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation explained.
He especially stressed the fact that Volkswagen, having 13 seats, carried 19 passengers.
“There is no speaking of any security and seat belts. Ten people were killed on the spot and nine people were hospitalized,” Sergey Buylov concluded.
