A sentence of 1,5 years of imprisonment and one-year deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle was assigned to junior sergeant of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, who violated the rules of the road when driving the municipal vehicle, and hit a woman, born 1925.

“It was found that on 22 February 2013 at around 14.00 the driver – the police officer of the department being on duty hit a pensioner in front of Regional Drama Theatre named after A. Lunacharsky, violating the rules in the area of the sign “Sidewalk.” As a result, the woman received injuries resulting in serious health damage,” said the Senior Assistant of the Head of Investigative Department of Investigative Committee in Penza, Media relations division Lyudmila Fomina.

She added that the decision has not entered into force yet and may be appealed within the statutory period.
