19 years of imprisonment appointed to murderer of employees of gambling club in Penza

Penza, 16 July 2013. PenzaNews. Penza Regional Court sentenced Alexander Yagodin, accused of killing two employees of the gambling club in Kizhevatova St. in Penza on Tuesday, July 16.

During the trial, the judge Gennady Bannikov explained that the crime was committed on 29 May 2012 during a quarrel between the defendant and the manager based on personal hostility.
“Alexander Yagodin intentionally stabbed the victim at least seven times with a knife, and then moved his body to the utility room where he ripped a gold chain off his neck and took his white gold signet ring — total amount of jewelry taken made 42 thousand rubles, the defendant also stole the victim’s passport,” the judge said.
Gennady Bannikov added that Alexander Yagodin also killed the manager of the bookmaker shop situated in an adjacent room, fearing that she would report about the crime to law enforcement agencies.
“Having taken hold of the property for a total amount of 66,172 rubles and the victim’s passport, Alexander Yagodin fled the scene and used it at his own will,” Gennady Bannikov commented.
During the hearing, the defendant admitted his guilt concerning murders only partially, and concerning the theft of property — fully, explaining that he murdered the girl-manager during the struggle when trying to get hold of a knife.
During the investigation Alexander Yagodin confessed that he was addicted to gambling, and lost a lot of money, as a result he had a large amount of debt.
The court sentenced the killer to 19 years of imprisonment in a penal colony. The verdict has not come in force yet.
Also the defendant is to pay moral damage compensation to the victims in the amount of 1,5 million rubles, and over 200 thousand rubles of financial and physical damage.
