Penza, 22 July 2013. PenzaNews. Employees of the traffic police department arrested 129 drunk drivers during a spot-check in the Penza region from 19 to 21 July.

“A major concern now is the accident rate involving drivers of motor vehicles, including mopeds and scooters. During 6 months of this year, 126 accidents of this category have been registered, in which five people were killed and 142 were injured. In 37 cases, the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated,” the inspector of promotion of road traffic safety of the regional department of the Traffic Police Marina Antipova commented.

She explained that during the spot-check the majority of drivers in the traffic stream were stopped, if they were suspected of being in a state of intoxication, they were subjected to the medical examination on the spot or according to the legally prescribed procedure.
