Almost 50 thousand bottles of counterfeit vodka withdrawn from commerce in Penza region

Penza, 14 August 2013. PenzaNews. Almost 50 thousand bottles of alcohol-containing liquid with the marks of counterfeit goods were withdrawn from commerce in Nizhnelomovsky area, the Penza region.

As the press service of the regional management told news agency “PenzaNews,” the police detained a MAN truck with 200 boxes with 4 thousand bottles of “Pshenichnaya” vodka in semi-trailer.

“All bottles were missing tax stamps, and their labels read the address of a non-existent plant. The driver of the vehicle did not provide any documents for the transported goods,” the press service said.

It also added that a few hours later, another truck was stopped, which contained 767 boxes with more than 23 thousand bottles of vodka without excise stamps.

“As a result of another operation, the police could establish the storage of a large batch of illegal alcohol. In one of the garages, the police found one thousand and two boxes of unmarked alcohol products – “Pshenichnaya” vodka. More than 20 thousand bottles were withdrawn from underground storage. In addition, the box with 30 used excise stamps was found,” the department explained.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Penza region explained that the samples of seized products were sent for examination, which will show how dangerous the liquid is for human life and health.

“This fact is currently being investigated. The criminal case on the grounds of an offense under Art. 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production, purchase, storage, transportation or sale of unmarked goods and products” may be initiated,” the press service concluded.
