Penza, 19 August 2013. PenzaNews. A newborn boy wrapped in a swaddling band and a plastic bag was found near the building of the Theater for Young Spectator in Penza on Monday morning, August 19.

According to the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a passerby heard the baby crying.

“The package was lying on the ground. The police officers arrived immediately together with the emergency team. The doctors found that the life of the newborn was not in danger, no signs of hypothermia were detected. The child was taken to the regional children's hospital named N. Filatov,” the ministry noted.

The department added that, presumably, the boy was born at home at 37th week of pregnancy.

“Currently, the police officers are working at the scene. All the circumstances of the incident are being investigated, including the baby's mother,” the press service explained.
