Penza, 19 August 2013. PenzaNews. 26 people received injuries of varying severity in road accidents which occurred in the Penza region over the past weekend.

“The traffic police officers registered around 3,340 traffic violations, over 140 of them are on the account of pedestrians. 63 drivers were detained in the state of intoxication,” the representative of the group propaganda of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He added that children were hurt in a number of accidents.

“Thus, on Saturday, August 17 at Neverkinsky area, as a result of a collision of VAZ-21099 with a lamp-post, a girl, born 1997, who was in the car, was hospitalized. She was diagnosed traumatic brain injury and a broken forearm. On the same day, a similar accident occurred in Karakozova St in Penza — VAZ-21053 hit a tree, a lamp-post and fence, as a result, a boy, born 2002, received a head injury,” the agency interlocutor informed.
