Penza, 9 September 2013. PenzaNews. Minimum four students suffered in the result of an incident which took place in Penza — an unknown man sprayed caustic substance from a gas bottle.

According to the father of one of the victims Viktor Khorev, the incident occurred on Monday, September 9, at around 14.00-15.00 near the regional hospital named after N. Burdenko, where a group of 30 young people were waiting for the opening of cafe “Shokoladnitsa” [Chocolate Girl].

“According to my son, they were approached by a man who started talking to them and asking about their attitude to the Jews — this is a quote. After my son said he did not want to talk to him, the man picked up the gas bottle, presumably with pepper fog, and sprayed in the eyes of my son and other people around him. At least four people suffered,” the agency interlocutor explained.

He added that later the injured young people were taken to the hospital.

“Several of them were not admitted in the building at once because they had no shoe covers, but in the end all of the victims got first aid — had their eyes flushed, some kind of ointment imposed, but the doctors did not tell what to do after that. Then the students went to the police station located nearby. The four of them submitted written statements and were asked to go for forensic examination to another city district on their own, but the young people refused because they were tired and in pain,” Viktor Khorev said noting that he was indignant at the attitude of the police towards the victims.

He said that after a while the health of his son got worse since the remains of the caustic from the clothes and hair got into his eyes again.

“Now he cannot open his eyes. I want to make sure that this case is made public, and our law enforcement agencies found the violator,” the agency interlocutor pointed out.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region reported that there is no information on the incident available at the moment.
