According to the investigators, in May 1998 Lomali Nukaev together with Alexander Kravchenko, Bukhari Takhalaev, Musa Saidaev and nonidentified persons, armed with weapons, kidnapped the oil company director from the rented flat in Baku. Afterwards with intent to get the ransom, they illegally withheld the victim in different locations – first in Baku, then in Chechnya. The criminal extorted 5 million US dollars for freeing the businessman, while employing violence and threatening to murder and do bodily harm,” the representative of the press service of General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He noted that the man was freed by federal forces in the course of the special-forces raid in February 2000.

“Earlier Alexander Kravchenko, Bukhari Takhalaev and Musa Saidaev were sentenced to long term imprisonment,” the agency interlocutor said.

He added that Ivan Sydoruk, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, approved the indictment regarding the case against Lomali Nukaev on Monday, October 14.

“The materials were sent to Shalinsky regional court for examination on the merits,” the agency interlocutor said.
