Penza, 6 December 2013. PenzaNews. 80-year-old Penza resident was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment in a penal colony of strict regime for the murder of his friend.

“It was established that while drinking alcohol there occurred a quarrel between the convicted and his fellow. The elderly man was offended that his friend thought he was involved in the theft of an inflatable boat, so he took a knife and hit the victim at least 44 times, from which the victim died at the scene,” the senior assistant attorney of the Penza region Yuliya Makarova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She added that previously the man served the term of 11 years and 3 months for committing the similar offense.

“He was released in September 2008 on parole, 1 year and 5 months earlier than he was supposed to,” the agency interlocutor specified.

Yuliya Makarova noted that the verdict has not yet come into force.
