The head coach of the Penza women’s basketball club “Yunost” Marina Pavlova, who spent about two months in pre-trial detention center upon the case of embezzlement of 14,5 million rubles within the period from September 2009 to May 2013, has been transferred to house arrest.

The decision on changing the measure of restraint was made by the Leninsky District Court of Penza last Friday, December 13.

According to Andrei Ryabyshev, the lawyer of the defendant, the motion for house arrest was filed by the investigators.

The prosecutor, Marina Pavlova and her lawyer had no objections.

Currently, the coach is forbidden to contact the outside world except for relatives, lawyers and doctors.

The term of house arrest of Marina Pavlova is two months, the newspaper “Ulitsa Moskovskaya” reports.

As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, the head coach of the Penza women’s basketball club “Yunost” Marina Pavlova was charged with embezzlement of 14,5 million rubles within the period from September 2009 to May 2013.

According to the investigators, the coach illegally cashed out and stole money intended for the team. However, Marina Pavlova insisted that she did not steal the money and used it to pay salaries to the players and the staff, as well as for organization of away matches that supposedly was done with the consent of the administration of the regional sports committee.
