Details of case for attempting to bribe raped woman in Penza revealed

Penza, 26 December 2013. PenzaNews. Investigative authorities revealed the details of the criminal case for attempting to bribe the raped woman for the purpose of her giving false testimony; two lawyers of the Penza Bar Association are charged with committing the crime.
“According to the investigation, in February 2013 the victim’s representative and the lawyer of the man who is accused of rape and sexual assaults entered into criminal conspiracy. During the hearing of the case at the court they agreed to bribe the victim. The lawyers promised her 500 thousand rubles for changing all the testimony given by her in the preliminary investigation. They valued the denial of the fact that the accused committed sexual assault at 300 thousand rubles,” the Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, Media relations, Lyudmila Fomina told news agency PenzaNews on Thursday, December 26.
She said that the woman informed the law enforcement bodies of the attempted bribery and all further actions were controlled by the field service.
“On 5 February 2013, the lawyers were arrested while attempting to deliver a part of the sum in the amount of 200 thousand rubles,” the agency interlocutor added.
As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, the criminal case with the approved indictment was submitted to the court for consideration on the merits.
