Penza, 8 January 2014. PenzaNews. 81-year-old Penza resident voluntarily gave out sawed-off rifle and shotgun together with more than 4,500 cartridges to police.

“The old man explained that the weapons and ammunition was handed to him for temporary storage by his friend who died 20 years ago. Subsequently the pensioner found out about the preventive action held in the region, in accordance to which citizens can bring to police firearms, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices and receive cash reward,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry added that arms and ammunition that were handed by the pensioner are sent for examination.
