Penza female resident gives 75 thousand rubles to fraudsters for ‘unlocking’ her bank card

Penza, 13 January 2014. PenzaNews. Penza female resident transferred 75 thousand rubles to fraudsters for alleged bank card unlocking.

“The appealed to the police woman reported that she got a message on her cell phone about her card locking. She called the number provided in the message. A stranger answered the phone, he presented himself as a specialist of the bank and explained that she should perform some actions through a cash machine to unlock the card. Following the instructions of the stranger, the victim transferred money in the amount of 75 thousand rubles to accounts of three cellular subscribers,” the press service of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Penza region told news agency PenzaNews on Monday, January 13.

The press service added that the check is being carried out into the fraud.

“The police is taking measures to identify persons involved in the crime. Is was established that the phone number from which the message was received was registered in Kurgan region,” the press service said.
