Penza prosecutors revealed 42 cases of corruption in 2013

Penza, 23 January 2014. PenzaNews. 42 cases of corruption were revealed in the Penza region by the prosecutors in 2013.

“Corruption crimes were found in government agencies, local government, supervisory bodies and others. The largest number of them was revealed in education, health and veterinary fields,” the senior assistant attorney of the Penza region Yuliya Makarova told news agency PenzaNews on Thursday, January 23.

She added that last year, the office registered 241 corruption-cases in the region.

“145 criminal cases against 158 people were sent to court for consideration. Among the reported crimes are 59 cases of receiving and 33 cases of offering bribes,” the agency interlocutor noted.

Yuliya Makarova pointed out that the main reason of the crimes was increasing personal wealth.

“The damage caused by corruption offenses in 2013 amounted to over 15 million rubles, including the budgets of different levels,” she concluded.
