Penza, 23 January 2014. PenzaNews. Penza businessman Alexander Pronkin was convicted of 15 fraud cases.

“He intentionally turned to his friends asking to lend him money, but did not return them under various pretenses. Thus, from August 2006 to February 2010, the businessman kept away from his friends 17 million rubles and spent the money on personal needs,” the press secretary of the Penza regional court Natalya Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She added that Alexander Pronkin promised some of his victims apartments and pay-parking spaces in buildings under construction as a pay-back.

“People trusted him because the businessman was the director of the contractor-company, which according to the contract delivered construction materials and in return had the right to claim for the ownership of apartments from the developer. That is what Alexander Pronkin promised his victims. However, he was not consistent at fulfilling his part of the contract and, thus, lost the right for property,” the press secretary of the Penza regional court explained.

According to Natalya Bychenkova, the man fully admitted his guilt in the court.

“He confirmed that the construction companies of Penza paid him with apartments, which he was selling. However, the deals were arranged before he met contractual obligations. Under this scheme, he drew up the contracts of the transfer of the right to claim the apartment with five victims. He did not manage to fulfill the transfer, because he met financial difficulties — the businessman failed to supply the construction materials and therefore lost the apartments which were issued to him and, consequently, to the victims. He failed to return the money as well, because he had already spent it,” the agency interlocutor explained.

She specified that Pervomaysky district court of Penza sentenced the man to 7 years of imprisonment in a penal colony.

“Alexander Pronkin appealed, but the judicial board on criminal cases of the Penza regional court denied. The sentence came into force,” Natalya Bychenkova summarized.
