Penza, 28 January 2014. PenzaNews. The criminal case against 39-year-old resident of Penza and his 38-year-old wife, who are charged with robbery, extortion and abduction, was sent to Saratov court.

As the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee told news agency “PenzaNews,” in August 1999, the defendants and four people entered into a criminal conspiracy to abduct six people involved in the organization of gambling.

“On August 4-5 of the same year they abducted the above mentioned persons, as well as robbed their apartments to seize personal property. The criminals brought the victims to one of the apartments in Saratov, from where they were subsequently released by law enforcement officials,” the representative of the Russian Investigative Committee commented.

The ministry clarified that four criminals were arrested in 1999 — all of them were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.

“Two other defendants were in the federal wanted list, and therefore the case against them was filed into a separate procedure. They were detected and detained in Penza on September 6, 2013,” the press service specified.
