Penza, 7 March 2014. PenzaNews. A pensioner from Zasechny, the Penza region lost 340 thousand rubles in the hope of obtaining compensation for previously purchased medical device.

“In October 2013, the man received a phone call from a stranger, who explained that he was entitled to compensation in the amount of 560 thousand rubles, but to obtain it, the man had to transfer a service fee,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Penza region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry added that the pensioner transferred the funds to the stranger over the next few days, but received no compensation.

“Currently, for fraud scheme is being investigated. Police officers are taking measures to identify people involved in the commission of the crime,” the press service of the ministry informed.
