Penza, 27 March 2014. PenzaNews. An 18-year-old student of Penza university is accused of committing sexual abuse of a minimum of two 13-year-old girls and money extortion.

“According to the investigation, from July to September 2013 the young man, being a user of one of the social networks, entered into correspondence with two 13-year-old girls, sending them messages, which urged them to engage in sexual intercourse. Furthermore, the accused extorted one thousand rubles from one of the girls. Otherwise, he threatened the victim to distribute pictures of her naked body among friends. These images were made without the knowledge of the victim and without her consent,” the Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, Media relations, Lyudmila Fomina told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She explained that the mother of one of the victims found out about the incident and appealed to law enforcement agency.

“According to the forensic psychiatric examination, the accused realized the nature and social danger of his actions,” the agency interlocutor said, adding that after the confirmation of the indictment, a criminal case will be sent for consideration on the merits.

Lyudmila Fomina noted that uncontrolled social networking is a great danger for children.

“Parents need to know what their child is doing during the long hours spent at the computer, they should know who their child is communicating with over the Internet. For this purpose, at least once a week, parents need to turn on the computer and check the log, which contains information about the websites their child has visited,” she concluded.
