Resident of Spassk to spend 9,5 years in prison for severe assault and battery of his acquaintance

Spassk, 1 April 2014. PenzaNews. A 27-year-old resident of Spassk, the Penza region was sentenced to 9,5 years of imprisonment in a penal colony of special regime for the attempted murder of an acquaintance and stealing money.

“Investigation found that in the evening, on September 18, 2013 the convict, while in the house of his brother, with a mistress and two friends were drinking alcohol. At night during a quarrel he struck a 38- year-old man several times on the head and body with various objects, including a metal pan, a baseball bat, a wooden stick and a kitchen knife,” the Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, Media relations, Lyudmila Fomina told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She added that, being confident that he killed the victim, the attacker left the house.

“The man, who was unconscious, was discovered by the attacker's brother in the morning. He was taken to the hospital for medical care. At that time, the convict with his mistress and a friend tried to hide at his friends in Mordovia, but was detained by police,” the agency interlocutor said.

Lyudmila Fomina clarified that they also established the involvement of the man in two thefts.

“In March 2013 he stole 3,700 rubles from a bag of an employee of the Social Welfare Department in Spassk, and in September, he took 3,600 rubles from his friend's jacket, while the man was in a state of extreme intoxication,” she explained.
