Penza, 3 April 2014. PenzaNews. Penza resident was found guilty in the death of a taxi passenger, which became the result of a brawl that took place at night on January 15, 2007 near supermarket No. 175.

Two young men and a woman got into a taxi in Kirova Street. Arriving at their destination, they paid 30 rubles instead of 70, and one of the passengers tried to escape. Then the taxi driver called the dispatcher and informed about the refusal to pay for services.

The convict, who was the commercial director at the time, was engaged in providing safety to the drivers and conflict settling. After calling the manager, he arrived and saw that the client was aggressive. According to him, he saw an object resembling a knife in the victim's jacket, and began to hit the young man trying to defend himself.

“The court found that the representative of the firm intentionally struck the passenger at least two times in the body area, and then a few more time, after which the young man fell on the ground. As a result, he received a blunt trauma of the head and neck, from which he died on the spot,” the press secretary of Penza regional court Natalia Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

According to her, the reasons of the man and his lawyer that the attack was actually self-defense, were found untenable by the court, since there was no knife.

“Oktyabrsky district court of Penza sentenced the man to five years of imprisonment in a penal colony. Also, he is to pay 65 thousand rubles for moral damage to the mother of the deceased. The convict and his lawyer tried to appeal, but their statement was left unsatisfied. The sentence has come into force,” the agency interlocutor concluded.
