Penza, 12 May 2014. PenzaNews. Penza Regional Court upheld the verdict, according to which the spouse of a drunk driver was fined in the amount of 225 thousand rubles for attempting to bribe a police officer.
“The court found that on April 26, 2013 in the village of Lenino, the Penza region, a traffic police officer stopped “Ford Focus” driven by a man with obvious signs of intoxication. The driver was asked to undergo a medical examination, but he refused. Then the inspector prepared an administrative offense report. At the same time the driver's wife went to another police officer who supervized the traffic police patrol on the route, and gave him 15 thousand rubles as a bribe, putting money in the glove compartment of the car,” the press secretary of Penza Regional Court Natalia Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”
She specified the woman did not manage to fulfill her plandue to the fact that the police officer did not take the bribe and informed about the incident the operational officer on duty.
“The defendant did not plead guilty and refused to testify at the hearing in accordance with Art. 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation,” the agency interlocutor said.
Natalia Bychenkova added that the lawyer of the woman disagreed with the verdict and submitted an appeal which was dismissed.
“The sentence has come into force,” the press secretary of Penza Regional Court summarized.
