Penza, 11 June 2014. PenzaNews. A 34-year-old resident of Bekovo village, the Penza region convicted of particularly serious crimes, including rape, murder, and arson of someone else's house.

“It has been established that at night, on January 20, 2014, a man, while intoxicated, raped a 50-year-old friend. Then, fearing that she would go to the police, he stabbed her several times with a folding knife and beat with hands and feet. The victim died at the scene,” the press secretary of Penza regional court Natalya Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She added that the attacker left the house, but after a while came back and set fire to a blanket on the couch in order to hide the traces of the murder.

“The fire caused death of the victim's roommate, who was also in the house. In addition, the mother of the victim, who is the owner of the house suffered damage in the amount of about 88 thousand rubles, as the fire damaged part of the building,” the press secretary explained.

According to Natalia Bychenkova, the man pleaded guilty at the hearing.

“When imposing sentence, the court took into account that the accused has already been convicted for the murder of his grandmother. As a result, the offender was sentenced to 20 years and one month of imprisonment in a penal colony of special regime with restriction of freedom for 1,5 years. It was also decided that he is to pay compensation for moral and pecuniary damages. The sentence was proclaimed on Wednesday, June 11. The sentence has not entered into force yet,” the agency interlocutor summed up.
