Penza, 2 July 2014. PenzaNews. A 27-year-old resident of Penza is suspected of stealing gold jewelry from the apartment of his friend.

As the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region told news agency “PenzaNews,” a 50-year-old woman reported to the duty police office that gold jewelry — ring, pendant, woman signet and chain —were stolen from her apartment under unknown circumstances.

“During the operational-search activities by the Criminal Investigation Department, the involvement of a 27-year-old Penza resident, who was previously held criminally liable, was found to be involved in the crime. He was arrested and confessed to the crime,” the ministry said.

The suspect explained that he met the daughter of the victim over the Internet, and after a while she invited him to visit.

While in the apartment, the young man noticed jewelry and stole them when had a chance.

“A criminal case was instituted. The court took the man on his own recognizance,” the press service said.
