Penza, 11 August 2014. PenzaNews. Investigators are deciding to take into custody a 54-year-old resident of Zemetchino, the Penza region, who killed her own granddaughter with an axe on Saturday, August 9.

“According to preliminary reports, the woman was drunk and hit a 3-year-old girl with an axe because she misbehaved and did not want to go to bed,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, told news agency PenzaNews on Monday morning, August 11.

She said that at the time of the murder, the child’s father was in Moscow on business, and the girl’s mother, whom the girl resided with, was out of town.

“At the moment, a criminal case has been instituted on paragraph C, Part 2, Art. 105 of the Criminal Code ‘Murder.’ All the circumstances of the crime are under investigation,” the agency interlocutor commented.
