Penza, 19 August 2014. PenzaNews. A Tajikistan citizen who is currently serving a sentence in Penza prison got another term extended for telephone terrorism.
As Yuliya Makarova, Senior Assistant Attorney of the region told news agency “PenzaNews,” the crime was committed on January 26, 2014.
“A man speaking with a southern accent called the police and reported a bomb allegedly placed in the building of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region. He demanded five million rubles, otherwise he threatened to blow up the building. Premises of the Legislative Assembly, as well as the regional government and administration of Penza, were swiftly examined with the use of service dogs. Information about the bomb proved to be false, and the telephone terrorist’s identity was quickly identified. It appeared to be a Tajikistan citizen, born 1987, who is currently serving a sentence for murder in Penza penal colony No. 1. It has been established that the call was made from a cell phone that he possessed illegally,” the agency interlocutor explained.
She added that a criminal case under Art. 207 of the Criminal Code “False report of an act of terrorism” was filed against the convict.
“The court found him guilty and sentenced to one year in prison, which was added to the unserved part of the previous sentence. The convict appealed the decision. Judicial board upheld the conviction and did not satisfy the appeal,” Yuliya Makarova said.
