Penza, 11 September 2014. PenzaNews. Ex-head of Penza housing and communal services Alexei Agafilov appeared in Leninsky district court, notable for a hearing of a large-scale fraud criminal case against him.

Alexei Agafilov appeared at the door of the court about 10 minutes before the start of the hearing, scheduled for 10.00. The accused was not accompanied by anybody.

Alexei Agafilov changed slightly throughout the year during which he was under investigation. In particular, the former head of the city housing and communal services looked thinner.

Noting a photojournalist of news agency PenzaNews on the porch of the district court, Alexei Agafilov looked at him attentively without slowing down, and tried to block the camera lens with his hand just before entering the court building.

Alexei Agafilov made no comments on any topic, including the question of his innocence, keeping absolute silence.

Verification of documents in the courthouse took less than a minute, after which the defendant went to the meeting room.

Initially, it was reported that the case of Alexei Agafilov will be closed to the media. It later turned out that journalists had the right to attend the meeting, but the correspondent of news agency PenzaNews was not allowed in the room.
