Former Penza State University IT department professor found guilty of bribery

Penza, 13 November 2014. PenzaNews. Valery Artyukhin, a 58-year old former assistant professor for the Department of Computer Technologies at the Penza State University, was found guilty of bribery.

“The investigators and the court have established that the professor received a bribe of 3,000 rubles from a student within the walls of the university in exchange for a B mark at an exam in September 2014,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, informed PenzaNews agency.

She added that the court fined the former assistant professor 120,000 rubles with a one-year ban to conduct any work in the sphere of education.

According to the information published on the official website of the Penza State University, Valery Artyukhin as a professor with 18 years of experience, defended his thesis in 1991, and had been working in the Penza State Pedagogical Institute, now part of the State University, since 1996.
