Deputy head of colony-settlement near Penza fined 675,000 rubles for bribery

Penza, 13 November 2014. PenzaNews. Sergei Chernyaev, deputy head, head of the center for convict labor adaptation of Penal colony No.12 located in Sosnovka village, Bessonovsky area, the Penza region, was found guilty of bribery.

“It was established that the deputy head of the colony, who was in charge of distribution of convicts to work sites and the organization of their work, including outside the prison, illegally let the convict out of the institution for a purpose unrelated to industrial activity in the colony in April 2014,” Yuliya Makarova, Senior Assistant Attorney of the Penza region in Media Relations, informed PenzaNews agency.

She said that the deputy chief of the colony received a bribe of 15 thousand rubles for this action.

“In accordance with the position of the public prosecutor, the court fined him by 675,000 rubles. Moreover, the court decided on a two-year ban to occupy positions related to the functions of the authority exercising organizational-administrative and administrative functions in state bodies, local government, state and municipal authorities,” the agency interlocutor explained.

The penal colony No.12 is a correctional institution for first-time and previously convicted persons.

The institution has a special wing for women.
