Traffic police officer, accomplice sentenced for selling driver licenses

Penza, 19 November 2014. PenzaNews. The chief state inspector of the Driver Licensing Office of the Penza region Traffic Police Department, and his 48 year old accomplice were found guilty of selling driver licenses.
“The investigators and the court found that the convict, then an officer of the Driver Licensing Office of the Traffic Police, was involved in a criminal scheme by selling driver licenses to people without proper examination procedures. For these purposes, he engaged his acquaintance whose task was to seek potential clients,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, informed PenzaNews agency.
She added that the crime money were later split between the accomplices.
According to Lyudmila Fomina, the investigation registered several sales of driver licenses.
“Their criminal actions were stopped after a joint operation of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Federal Security Sevice,” the agency interlocutor remarked.
Lyudmila Fomina clarified that the traffic police officer has been sentenced for 30 months in a penal settlement.
“He is also banned from employment in law enforcement services for 3 years,” explained the Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
She added that the accomplice was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
“The verdict has not yet entered into force, and may be appealed by both parties,” summed up the agency interlocutor.
