Criminal case against local nationalist instituted in Penza

Penza, 21 November 2014. PenzaNews. The regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee instituted a criminal case against a 32-year-old local resident, a supporter of nationalistic views, on Part 1, Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of Russia “Hatred or enmity inciting, and humiliation.”

“According to the investigation, in December 2013 the suspect posted graphic and text images on his page on the social network VKontakte using his personal computer at home. According to the experts, these inciting statements were calling for hostile actions against a certain class of people defined by race, nationality and origin (natives of the Caucasus and Central Asia),” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, informed PenzaNews agency on Friday, November 21.

According to her, currently the police are establishing all the circumstances of the crime.

According to information available to PenzaNews agency, the suspect’s name is Alexander Shipanov, and he is the coordinator of the public movement “Sursky union,” one of the initiators of Penza “Russian march.”

During the summer of 2014, he applied for the elections of Penza City Duma deputies of the sixth convocation as an independent, but the city election committee rejected his candidacy on August 8.
