Teenager who tore metal cuckoo off Penza downtown clock tower found guilty for vandalism

Penza, 13 February 2015. PenzaNews. A college student was found guilty of committing an act of vandalism, after he tore a metal cuckoo figurine off the renowned clock tower, a city symbol located on Moskovskaya street in Penza.

“The teenager was driven by desire to oppose the others and show his scorn to the world,” the spokesman of the Leninsky district court of Penza told PenzaNews agency.
He also told more about the occurrence.
“The college student climbed the tower clock, tore the wooden cuckoo off the swiveling part of the clock work, and threw it on the ground,” the agency interlocutor said.
According to him, thus the teenager caused a total of 4,477 rubles of property damage to the municipal unitary enterprise “Penza green economy.”
“Its representative said during the court hearing that the sliding mechanism of the Cuckoo clock tower is an expensive construction made by the German craftsmen. However, it was not damaged. The cuckoo has been returned to its original place,” the spokesman said.
He added that the teenager has been sentenced to a fine of four thousand rubles.
“The sentence has already come into force,” the representative of Leninsky district court said.
