Penza, 9 March 2015. PenzaNews. A resident of the Bashmakovo area of the Penza region, 45, lost over 100,000 rubles in an online scam.

“At home, she tried to log in to an online banking service, but with no success. After several failed attempts, a window popped up with a request to enter her mobile phone number. After inputting her phone number, the woman was contacted by an unknown person who introduced himself as a bank security service assistant, and said the woman must input a particular number code to access the online banking service. After following the unknown person’s instruction, the woman found out a large sum of money was withdrawn from her banking card,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs informed PenzaNews agency.

The event is currently being investigated, the officials added.

“The police are identifying the culprits,” the press service said.
