Post office head in Penza region embezzled over 950,000 rubles

Penza, 14 March 2015. PenzaNews. A female resident of the Penza region who embezzled over 950,000 rubles while heading the post office at Bolshoy Vyas village in the Lunino area received a suspended prison sentence of 3 years with a 2-year probation period.

The woman was found guilty of committing a crime under part 3, Art. 160 of the Criminal Code, titled “Embezzlement or misappropriation of funds.”

“The accused fully complied with the accusation during the case,” the official representative of the Lunino area court in the Penza region informed PenzaNews agency.

The court took the mitigating circumstances into account before announcing its verdict, the spokesperson explained.

“The accused received only positive characteristics from the place of work and the place of residence. She confessed to the crime, pleaded guilty and partially restored the damages. The case had no aggravating circumstances,” the speaker noted.

The court representative also added that the court took into account the life situation of the accused, who recently suffered a fire that destroyed her home and property, and thus announced a suspended sentence.

“The court also fined the woman 943,765 rubles to the Penza region federal postal service department, subbranch of the Russian Post,” he clarified.
