Penza, 23 March 2015. PenzaNews. The court was found a young man guilty of causing a heinous traffic accident in November 2014 by “Lenta” trading center in Penza while driving a VAZ-21120, which resulted in the death of a young woman.

“We have found that the young man, being drunk, was driving a Russia-made car with two passengers at about 23.40 of November 15 along Stroitelei prospekt towards the Arbekovo neighborhood. While driving on the road section across the Stroitelei prospekt, 2b apartment building, he collided with an Audi car standing by the sidewalk with hazard lights on and reflecting triangle installed on the road. The Audi car was parked behind two cars that had been involved in a traffic accident shortly before and were awaiting for the traffic police to arrive,” Yuliya Makarova, Senior Assistant Attorney of the Penza region in Media Relations, told PenzaNews agency.

Shortly before the tragic accident, the driver of the Audi drove by the traffic accident site and saw his acquaintance, a lady, whose car was involved in the accident.

“He stopped behind the cars, took the necessary measures, installed the reflective triangle, and invited the young woman to sit in his car due to cold weather outdoors. When the VAZ-21120 collided with the Audi, the young lady, born in 1993, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the latter car, received grievous injuries, to which she succumbed two days later,” the speaker elaborated, adding that the victim planned to have a wedding ceremony a month later.

“Based on the position of the state attorney, the young man received a sentence of 3.5 years in penal settlement with a 3-year driving ban, and a fine of 700,000 rubles for the parents of the victim as compensation for moral damages caused by the criminal accident,” Yulia Makarova said.
