Diver who hit two women, killed one on road, detained in Penza region

Penza, 27 April 2015. PenzaNews. A Penza resident, 25, was detained on charges of committing a hit-and-run crime against two women pedestrians which resulted in the death of one of them.
The tragic incident took place in the village of Zolotarevka late on Sunday, April 26, the press service of the regional Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.
“The driver of a Lada Priora hit the two pedestrians and escaped from the crime scene. One of the women died, the other – hospitalized with grave injuries,” the Ministry clarified.
The car was later located in a ditch on the 21st kilometer of a Penza—Zolotarevka highway, the press service added.
“The police investigators and officers took the measures to locate the person, and successfully identified the potential culprit, who was detained in Zolotarevka and brought to a police station for further questioning,” the department said.
The lethal accident is currently under investigation with a potential criminal case to follow, the press service explained.
