“The boy fell out of the window on June 1 after he leaned on the anti-insect net. The boy was left alone in the room for several minutes before the accident,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, informed PenzaNews agency.

A similar case took place in Penza on May 20, she recalled.

“A young girl, 11, fell out of a ninth floor window of the apartment building on Ternovskovo street. She eventually succumbed to injuries. The investigation found that the girl, who was disabled since early years, were left alone in her flat, and the window was open,” the speaker clarified.

The Investigative Department would like to ask the citizens to watch their children closely and do not leave them alone in rooms with open windows, Lyudmila Fomina added.

“To ensure the safety of their children, the parents must not place the furniture in a way that would allow the child to climb the windowsill or the top edge of the open balcony. They also should consider window blockers that would prevent a child from opening the window, and not rely on anti-insect nets as they give them false impression they are protected. These basic means of safety, and the parents’ attention, will help protect a child’s life in a dangerous situation,” she stressed.
