Penza, 21 July 2015. PenzaNews. The police initiated a criminal case under the article 217 of the criminal code, titled “Violation of Security Measures on Dangerous Objects” after a gas equipment set exploded at a gas station on Austrina street in Penza late on Saturday, July 18. As a result of the incident, two men, born in 1973 and 1994, were hospitalized with second and third degree burns, and the gas station itself sustained material damage.

“We are investigating the event. The investigators will hold a fire safety analysis to establish the reasons behind the explosion,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.

The investigation will say whether the persons responsible for the fire safety at the gas station are to blame, she added.
