The driver, who was riding along the street from the Penza city center, may have noticed the pedestrian crossing the road only when it was too late, a PenzaNews journalist reports from the scene.
Trying to avoid the collision, the driver steered in a light pole by the crossroad, but the car still knocked the pedestrian down.
The bystanders immediately summoned ER.
Based on the evidence, the man received no significant injuries: he managed to get on feet on his own after the incident, stayed by the accident site for some time, surrounded by people, and then went inside the military commissariat building.
However, the car was noticeably damaged: a collision with a light pole nearly wrapped the car bumper around the obstacle, and the windscreen cracked inside.
The traffic police is yet to establish the actual timeline of the accident.
