Penza, 10 October 2015. PenzaNews. An elderly Penza resident, 69, lost 256,000 rubles through a fraud scam.

“According to the man, he received a call on his cellphone: a woman who introduced herself as a bank assistant told him he is eligible for economy inflation compensation,” the press service of the regional Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.

Following the unknown woman’s instructions, the elderly man did a series of manipulations through an ATM that resulted in him transferring a large sum of money to an unidentified bank account.

“The fraud case is under investigation. The police are taking measures to identify the culprits,” the press service said.
