Elderly woman in Penza region deceived out of 80,000 rubles

Penza, 6 November 2015. PenzaNews. The police of the Lunino area of the Penza region are currently investigating a fraud case where an elderly woman, 65, lost 80,000 rubles to a scammer.

“In her address to the police, the woman said she published an ad on Avito.ru to sell her private house. On the same day, she received a call from an unknown woman, who said she wants to buy the house, and asked her to tell her the debit card credentials and passport information to send over the advance payment,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.

After telling her the requested information, the elderly woman received an SMS saying 80,000 rubles was withdrawn from her account, the police added.

“Afterwards, the victim said she was informed of such scam schemes. The police are currently taking measures to identify the culprits. The unknown woman was calling from a phone number registered in a different region,” the press service said.
